Affiliate Marketing is the most well known Performance Marketing channel, but also the purest form of Performance Marketing. The term “Affiliate Marketing” essentially describes the business relationship between an advertiser (aka merchant) and an affiliate (aka publisher), in which the latter drives traffic to the advertiser's webpage and gets paid, only when those users perform an agreed action (most of the times the action agreed will be a sale). This method of payment is referred to as Cost per Action (CPA) and is what differentiates Affiliate Marketing from other marketing channels and promotional methods.
